The LBJ Forum have the ongoing responsibility of ensuring the sustainability of Lowedges Community Centre and in these difficult economic times it is becoming more a challenge.
Therefore from April we will be implementing changes needed to allow us to continue providing services for the community to benefit.
Tuesdays: We will no longer be running Little Tykes Toddler Group, this has been running for many years and engaged many families. But in recent months the numbers have been too low to sustain the group. The LBJ Forum are also conscious that we also want to ensure that our resources and time are spent filling gaps and need, and on Tuesdays families now have more choice of things to do.
There are now other activities taking place in the area Tuesdays including toddler swimming at Graves Leisure Centre and a toddler group at Batemoor & Jordanthorpe Community Centre. Please get in touch with them for more information about joining their activities.
Wednesdays (Term Time Only): We will be developing Munchy Bunch, which will be changing its layout and implementing our new improved play planning while making it a longer day out. The Lowedges Community Centre main hall will be open from 9:30am until 2pm for families to come together and play throughout this time, after feedback that most activities take place in the morning only. This new time will allow families who’s young child is in nursery in the morning to come along after and engage with other children and parents in the afternoon.
There will be a cost of £1.50 per family and this will include drinks for children and parents/carers.
The Centre Café will then also be open from 10:30am until 12pm serving a low-cost brunch menu for those wanting to eat together too.
School Holidays: We aim to work with local Partners including The Terminus Initiative and the People Keeping Well Partnership to help them deliver family lunchtime activities for school-aged children and their siblings. As well as being a venue for events and fun days. This Easter holiday we’ve been able to support 3 sessions of Family Fun Lunches each week and we’ve received great feedback.
